ANATOMIE

The Medical University of Vienna offers its students of medicine and dentistry the unique opportunity to be educated in hands-on dissection classes, which take place in one of the large dissection rooms of the Division of Anatomy. The students are taught in a peer system which guaranties top educational standards on the one hand and on the other hand ensures ethically correct and respectful treatment of body donors. The physicians and scientists of the Division of Anatomy are heavily engaged in a number of mandatory and elective theoretical lecture seminars and hands-on courses of the medical curriculum and PhD programs. They supervise PhD students and educate young academics and physicians.

The research area Topographical Anatomy covers clinically applied anatomy as well as basic morphological sciences. It makes use of a broad variety of methods such as macro- and microscopic dissection, radiological imaging, traditional and advanced microscopy.

ANATOMICAL TRAINING CENTER OF THE MUW, WÄHRINGER STRASSE 13

Since the last century the Division of Anatomy grew to an outstanding platform for postgraduate training of surgeons and academics working on various fields of medically associated professions. Courses mainly take place in the dissection rooms and lecture halls of the Anatomy Training Centre, which was designed and equipped to meet the high technical standards expected by our national and international guests. By organising and supporting these postgraduate education activities, the Division of Anatomy significantly contributes to increase and maintain the high quality of public healthcare.
